Cadillac is one of the first car brands to be founded in the United States. Who or what is it named after?
Answer Antoine Laumet
Cadillac is named after Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, born Antoine Laumet — the great French explorer who founded Detroit, Michigan in 1701. Upon his arrival in America, he adopted the title of the French town of Cadillac. So when Henry M. Leland founded the car company, he decided to pay tribute to the founder of Detroit.
