Break out the Digiorno. Which inventor is credited with first developing frozen foods?
Answer Clarence Birdseye
If you like your Lean Cuisine or Stouffer's Frozen Meal, then you have Clarence Birdseye to thank for it. Frozen foods for retail was the brainchild of this American inventor. He got the idea from his time as a fur trader in Labrador, where he found fresh food was not so plentiful and people froze food to survive. Though other frozen foods preceded Birdseye's, his method of freezing was super efficient, preserving the original taste. Bon appetit!
