Sometimes known as the "Mad Titan," Thanos wanted to bring order to the universe by wiping out half of the population. To do this he went on a quest for the Infinity Stones and forced Eitri, the king of the Dwarves, to forge the Infinity Gauntlet in order to contain the Stones' power. Once he had beaten the Avengers and collected all six of the Stones, Thanos snapped his fingers and erased half of all lifeforms in the universe.
