An all-seasons resort, Lake Tahoe is one of the most famous lakes in the country, but it wasn't always known as Tahoe. What was the original name of this storied lake?

Answer Lake Bigler

Lake Tahoe has had a lot of names during its history. First discovered by John Fremont in 1844, it was called Lake Bonpland (named after a famous botanist), but then it was changed to Mountain Lake. Subsequently it was renamed for the former governor of California, John Bigler (1852 to 1856).
