Ford's cavalry trilogy saw the sequel, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, as arguably the best of the three films. Wayne gives one of his best performances as Nathan Brittles, but being that he was already up for an Oscar for Sands of Iwo Jima, this role didn't gain the recognition it rightly deserved.
