The Bangs Sisters, otherwise known as Mary "May" E. Bangs and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Snow Bangs, were a fraudulent duo of spiritualist mediums from Chicago, who made a living by painting the dead, or what they referred to as "Spirit Portraits". Following the exposure of this and other fraudulent practices, mediumship as a whole fell into disrepute.
