Arguably the first action star, this silent film actor introduced both Zorro and Robin Hood to the silver screen. Who is he?
Answer Douglas Fairbanks
Fairbanks played a pivotal role in the movie industry as we know it. He was a founding member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, as well as its first president. Shirking the studio system, he also founded United Artists alongside his wife Mary Pickford, Charlie Chaplin, and D.W. Griffith. Oh yeah, and he was a swashbuckling superstar who usually did his own stunts and served as the inspiration for DC Comics' Batman.
