Are male police officers allowed to have facial hair?

Answer A short and well-groomed mustache is allowed.

Officially, the police would prefer all to be cleanly shaven so there is a uniformity of appearance that helps with camaraderie and discipline, but they do allow a well-groomed mustache that does not cover the upper lip line and extends no further than the corner point of the lips. In rare cases where there is a medical need to avoid shaving, such as in the case of pseudofolliculitis barbae, 1/8” to 1/4” stubble may be allowed, as long as it is not shaped.
