Approximately how many degrees of slope is there in a road with 9% grade?
Answer 5 degrees
To convert between grade and degrees, you take the formula Angle in degrees = arctan(grade / 100). Putting 9 into the grade spot in this formula gives us a slope of just over 5 degrees, which doesn't sound like much but can surely give truck drivers a headache.
