In 1971, Chrysler Australia unveiled the two-door hardtop coupe known as the Chrysler Valiant Charger. It was an Australian Chrysler Valiant sedan with a short wheelbase. It won the 1971 Australian Wheels Car of the Year Award and received favorable reviews. The Charger had several modifications of basically two main powertrains over its seven-year manufacturing run, based on iterations of the Chrysler Hemi-6 Engine and the Chrysler LA Engine V8.
