All good things must come to an end. Why was Hogan's Heroes cancelled?

Although still popular during its last season, CBS canceled Hogan's Heroes as U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War was ramping up. Such a comedic show about war didn't present good optics, and the network wanted to be more sensitive and politically correct to POWs involved in Vietnam.
