The names of Santa's eight reindeer, derived from "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," are Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donnor and Blitzen. In the original poem, Donner was Dunder and Blitzen was Blixem, the Dutch words for thunder and lightning. Dunder became Donder, the German spelling, eventually turning into Donnor in most versions. Blixem was also updated to the German spelling of Blitzen, but it is sometimes spelled Blixen.
