The conflict had resulted with America in massive debt to foreign aid, while Britain may have gained credible military gains but no territory. Both agreed that a peace treaty was the answer with restored borders. America did not achieve its aim of maritime rights, but the Napoleonic Wars concluded, leading to an end of impressment.
