For pigs, mud provides a lot of benefits. The most obvious one is that it cools them off and protects their sensitive skin from the sun. Less obvious reasons are that it helps them mark their territory and scrapes off annoying bugs and other parasites. As you know, nothing is happier than a pig in mud.
