Four holidays occur over the Golden Week in Japan. These include Showa Day, Constitutional Memorial Day, Greenery Day, and Children's Day. While the others are pretty self-explanatory, Showa Day (meaning "enlightened peace") is the yearly celebration of Emperor Hirohito’s birthday. The festival includes parades and flower viewings.
