Before she started saying "Jinkies!," Velma would just say "Oh My!". "Jinkies!" was also occasionally used by Daphne, but much less often. The origin of the word is disputed, but "by jinkies" was used in a comic strip called Ella Cinders in 1936, uttered by a character named "Bull".
