The World Wars represent a massive shift in how wars are fought. Previously, wars were frequently limited affairs, with only small portions of society engaged in the actual fighting or producing of weapons. Men marched into battle in colorful uniforms across open ground. Commanders could frequently see their entire army (and the enemy!) directly in front of them. World War I started off in a way similar to previous conflicts, with French soldiers still wearing fancy blue and red uniforms. But the massive technological shifts of the 20th century would have these same units, by the end of the war, conducting modern combined arms warfare using attacks from tanks, planes, infantry, and artillery while using radio and telephones to coordinate the whole affair. Do you know the history of these world changing technologies? Take this quiz to find out!
