Long Island-native Pat Benatar (born Patricia Mae Andrzejewski) inherited the music bug from her mom, a trained opera singer. A star of the Lindenhurst High School music department, Pat was accepted to the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City. And the rest is history. Actually, no. First, she decided that instead of a music career, she'd pursue a health education degree at the state college. Next, she decided that instead of an education, she'd pursue teenage married life in Virginia with her high school honey, Dennis Benatar. While that plan also fizzled, she did get one thing out of it: losing "Andrzejewski" for the show biz-ready "Benatar". Pat headed straight to NYC and the rest, this time, really is history.
