On December 15, 1979, Scott Abbott and Chris Haney were playing a game of Scrabble together when they were inspired to invent a board game of their own. Within just a couple of hours, they came up with the idea of Trivial Pursuit. It wasn’t until three years later, after adding two more men to the team and raising the necessary funds, that the first Trivial Pursuit game was trademarked and sold in Canada. It quickly become a household classic and has continued to be successful over the years with more than 100 million copies sold around the world and close to 100 different editions made since the original was released. There have even been several TV spin-offs of the game and fans can now play Trivial Pursuit online.
