The trailblazing comic icon has been entertaining us for over six decades, most memorably as the star of her self-titled variety show that debuted in 1967 and ran for twelve seasons. Burnett was so popular during the show's run that a Newsweek reported once gushed that “Loving Carol Burnett is a national habit”.

The success of The Carol Burnett Show was especially impressive because it launched at a time when variety shows were almost dead. More notably, the show was also the first comedy program to be hosted by a woman in television history, kicking open the doors for the countless female comics to follow. As Tina Fey once told Burnett, "I fell in love with sketch comedy watching your show, and you proved sketch comedy is a good place for women."
