Trainers engage in battle with wild Pokémon, and after weakening the a wild Pokemon with their own team, they are able to use a Pokéball to capture the wild creature and add it to their Pokémon roster. Then trainers are able to raise, breed, trade, and bond with their Pokémon, as well as engage in battle with other trainers. A trainer’s aim is to participate in the region’s Pokémon League, with the ultimate goal of becoming the Pokémon League Champion. Throughout the game series and the anime, many characters claim that they want to be a “Pokémon Master,” but the actual meaning of this title is unclear.
