How Well Do You Know "The Office"?

Andy

Early on in Jim's time at Stamford, he ate a tuna fish sandwich for lunch, prompting Andy to come up with this name. Andy often uses variations on Big Tuna such as Tuna Turner, Tommy Tuna and Large Tuna.

He killed her cat.

After asking Dwight to care for her sick cat, Sprinkles, Angela is dismayed to learn that her pet has died. She begins to suspect that Dwight had a part in Sprinkles' death, and when it comes to light that Dwight had performed what he felt was a mercy killing, Angela is unable to forgive him.

The Michael Scott Paper Company

Ryan and Pam also join the Michael Scott Paper Company, which is eventually bought out by Dunder Mifflin once they start losing clients to the new company.

Human resources

Holly comes to Scranton to replace the current HR rep, Toby, after he moves to Costa Rica.

The Dundies

Categories of the Dundies include "Whitest Sneakers" (awarded to Pam), "Cutest Redhead in the Office" (awarded to Erin) and "Extreme Repulsiveness" (awarded to Toby).

A gas station

This gas station is supposed to be halfway between Scranton and New York City, where Pam is attending art school. The production team had to actually build a replica gas station for this scene.

His stapler

Jim also pulls this prank with Dwight's calculator and Michael's "World's Best Boss" mug. This is an homage to the same prank as portrayed in the original UK version of "The Office."

Stanley

Stanley can often be seen working on a crossword puzzle instead of paying attention to what's going on around him, especially during staff meetings.

The Scranton Strangler

The police's pursuit of the Scranton Strangler led them right past Dunder Mifflin before apprehending the suspect. When the Strangler eventually was tried in court, Toby was part of the jury.

Printers

When Sabre takes over Dunder Mifflin, the sales staff is told that they are essentially printer salesmen that also sell paper. Some of Sabre's printers were prone to catching on fire.

Kevin

Kevin's manner of speaking and love of food led to the office comparing him to Cookie Monster. Comical videos of Kevin's voice over footage of Cookie Monster attracted a lot of attention from his co-workers.

Rabies

After Michael accidentally hits Meredith with his car, she ends up in the hospital and is given rabies shots as a precaution - thanks to Dwight, Meredith was recently put into close contact with a bat. Michael seizes on this opportunity to deflect from his own mistake and focus on rabies.

"Dunder Mifflin, this is Pam."

This greeting can be heard many times throughout the series. Receptionists at other branches will also use this greeting, inserting their own names.

Jo

Jo Bennett arrives at Dunder Mifflin for the first time with her two Great Danes, Callie and Jo Junior. Subsequent appearances have Jo with other breeds of dog as well.

Monkey

Dwight can be heard using this affectionate name for Angela several times throughout the series, even when they aren't in a relationship.

Michael Scarn

The screenplay for "Threat Level Midnight" appears in season two, but an actual filmed version is shown in season seven, starring many of the Dunder Mifflin employees as supporting characters.

Phyllis

Phyllis fulfills a long-time dream when she gets to play Santa at the office Christmas Party, but Michael takes exception to this and tries to upstage her. The two eventually make up once Michael apologizes.

Creed

Throughout the series, Creed often alludes to crimes he's committed, or he's seen actually doing them. This finally catches up with him at the series end, when he is escorted away by police officers.

Her landlady

After Michael falls in love with a model in an office chair catalog, he starts a relentless search to find her. Once he learns she has passed away, he asks the staff to find a date for him. His blind date with Pam's landlady doesn't go very well.

Customer service

When other members of the Dunder Mifflin staff have to field customer calls because of an obscene watermark, Kelly is responsible for teaching them how to handle the job.

Ryan

After the staff evacuates the smoking building, Dwight goes back inside and finds that Ryan started the fire by heating a cheese pita in the toaster oven on the wrong setting. The folly earns Ryan the nickname "The Fire Guy."

It is your birthday.

Other features of this party include brown and gray balloons that are barely blown up. Kelly is upset until Jim and Dwight offer her an hour-long nap as a birthday present.

Oscar

Although there had always been conflict between Oscar and Angela - including her hiring a hit man on Oscar for sleeping with her husband - Oscar takes her and Philip in when she falls on hard times after her divorce. Oscar becomes a parental figure to Philip.

"Somehow I Manage"

When Michael leaves the Scranton branch, he gives a copy of this book to Darryl.

Kelly

When Charles Miner, the new Vice President of the Northeast Region, arrives in Scranton, he suggests a name change to avoid confusion with long-time employee Kelly Kapoor. Kelly Hannon then asks to be called Erin, which is her middle name.

Stamford

Jim begins a new job in Stamford and eventually returns to Scranton because of the merger. Andy Bernard, who went on to be a permanent staff member at Scranton, also came from Stamford.

Second Life

Dwight seems especially invested in Second Life when he's having a hard time in reality. His avatar even has a second life version of himself within the original game of Second Life.

Rockin' Robin

Andy uses an a cappella version of the song with him singing all the parts himself. Jim hides Andy's phone in the ceiling vents to mess with him.

The Police

Kevin is the drummer and lead singer for Scrantonicity. They were supposed to play at Roy and Pam's wedding before it was called off.

Dunder Mifflin Infinity

Ryan introduces this website to bring Dunder Mifflin into the 21st century. Unfortunately, his determination to prove the site's success led to his arrest for "misleading the shareholders," AKA committing fraud.
