God didn't like the direction the Jews were going in their relationship with God. So, he sent the prophet Hosea to go marry a prostitute and ask, "How does it feel when the prostitute commits adultery against you. THAT'S HOW I FEEL!" The prophet Hosea expressed that pain to the people.
God didn't like the direction the Jews as a nation were going in their relationship with God. So, he sent the prophet Hosea to go marry a prostitute and ask, "How does that feel when the prostitute commits adultery against you. THAT'S HOW I FEEL!" The prophet Hosea understood and expressed that pain to the people.
God's method was unusual but his point was not missed. Seeking out other gods hurts God, like a wife sleeping around with other people.
While not a beautiful love story like Esther or Ruth, Hosea packs a powerful punch and its message was so good, the book got first place in the list of minor prophets.
