Are you a Foodie? You know, one of those people who watch all of the baking competitions, cooking contests, and chef showdowns you can get your eyes on? Do you follow food demos and vlogs on the Internet? Do you take pictures of every plate of food that is placed in front of you? Have you got 50 food boards on Pinterest? Do you just really enjoy eating? Whether you love gourmet food or cheeseburgers, if you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, you might just ace this quiz on food trivia!
How about a little pre-heat? Do you know the difference between boiling and broiling, fritters and doughnuts, risotto or polenta? What are the three main sauces you can make from a roux? Can you explain the difference between herbs and spices, or which type of flour you need for which type of baking? Can you spatchcock a chicken, or French a rack of lamb? If you watch a lot of cooking shows you probably already know the answers to these questions. (Too bad they won’t be on the quiz!)
As a Foodie, you may already know that folding is not just for clothing, docking is not just for computers or cell phones and that foaming is not just for rabid dogs. You might know that these are also cooking terms and are used in everyday dishes. Do you know the difference between Swiss, French, and American buttercream? Would you choose sorbet or coulis to eat with a slice of pound cake? (Is “both, please” a fair answer?)
Who knows? This quiz may just have you learning about foods or ingredients you didn’t know about and open a whole new area of cooking for you. Draw from every cooking program, magazine article, Pinterest save, or recipe demo you have ever seen and challenge yourself to beat this quiz!
