Paul needed a man to head up the church in Crete so he chose Titus, one of his faithful helpers that Paul spoke heavily about in 2 Corinthians, then also in Galatians and 2 Timothy. Crete was (and is) an island and people on an island tend to develop their own way to thinking.

Paul had shipwrecked on the island at the end of the book of Acts. The islanders kindly saved him and the others. He made a mark on them when a poisonous viper bit him on the hand and he did not die.
A church most likely started from that chance encounter and began to grow even after Paul left. Later, he wrote to Titus to give him some encouragement and advice. Take this quiz and think like a Cretan.
