What we call the Crusades was a series of smaller military conflicts that took place over several centuries. They have shaped the way we remember the Middle Ages – a time of clashing kingdoms and religions, but also of increased trade and sharing of knowledge between Christians and Muslims. Knights, sultans, warriors, and powerful popes sought power, influence, and salvation in this period of religious fervor and military conflict. Do you know the Crusades?
