As we all know, America is the land of the free and the home of the chain store. In this quiz, we'll test your knowledge of the history of America's most popular chain retail establishments. Let's see if you're buying what we're selling.
In the beginning, there were mercantile shops along the cobblestone street of our colonial towns. You had your blacksmith, your general store, your commissary, your pharmacist, and your candy store. Then Mom and Pop establishments were all the rage, selling local things to local people. As time went on, things started to change and small shops were taken over by bigger and bigger chain stores that standardized operations and turned Everytown, U.S.A. into one continuous shopping mall.
Before Amazon, you had your Targets, 7-11s, JC Penneys, Macy's and others. In this quiz, we'll test your knowledge of these stores and more, and find out how much you really know about the behemoths of retail all around you.
