The Breakfast Club is a 1985 American coming-of-age film, produced and directed by John Hughes. It follows some troublesome teenagers from different high school cliques who spend a Saturday in detention with their assistant principal. The film premiered on February 7, 1985 and critics consider it to be one of Hughes’s most recognizable works.
It’s no wonder that the film topped the charts back in 1985. After all, it was the perfect representation of ‘80s teen culture. It was relatable, special, and honest. At some point in our lives, we’ve all struggled to define ourselves against the stereotypes projected onto us by parents and peers. But most importantly, we’ve all struggled to accept one another.
